A thesis submitted in fulfilment of the requirements for the PhD degree in Environmental Science and Technology under th supervision of Dr Joan Rieradevall Pons Dr Xavier Gabarrell Durany Dr Alejandro Josa. This dissertation analyses water supply networks and vertical farming in a water-efficient building from a multidisciplinary approach. The novelty of the dissertation relies on the general approach adopted for the assessment of the water supply network. This allowed obtaining comprehensive results about the factors influencing its environmental impacts and covering existing gaps in previous literature. Moreover, the dissertation presents a pilot system for food production, made up of a rooftop greenhouse integrated in terms of water, air, energy and food with the building.
